ISA North Senior Athletics Championships

On Tuesday the 16th of May 48 students travelled to Robin Park Arena in Wigan to compete in the ISA North Senior Athletics Championships.  On arrival, we were greeted by extreme rainy conditions which as a result halted multiple track and field events.  This however did not dampen pupil’s  morale, and every student put their all in as each event started.

As the day progressed and students found their rhythm we became very successful with students winning/placing highly in each race and field event.  Every student who took part proudly represented Hipperholme.  We walked away with the most amount of pupils qualifying for Nationals in the school’s history – a truly outstanding performance by all!

Some noticeable performances:

George Gillgrass – 2nd in the Junior Boys 800m with a time of 2:22

Joe Underwood – 2nd in the Inter Boys 400m with a time of 57.2s (1st reserve for Nationals)

Harry Barraclough – 3rd in the Inter Boys 1500m (first reserve for Nationals)

Reon Todd – 3rd in the Inter Boys Shot Put

ISA North champions:

Abbie Greenwood – Junior Girls 100m (beat 24 other girls)

Halle Blu-Morrison – Junior Girls 200m (beat 24 other girls)

Joe O’Hara – Inter Boys Shotput (beat 12 other competitors)

Oliver Sheehan – Junior Boys Discus (beat 12 other competitors)

All 4 have qualified to represent the North at the ISA National Athletics Championships in June along with George Gillgrass in the 800m.
