The school believes all pupils should wear uniform because it prevents individuals feeling disadvantaged or superior by virtue of their clothes, and it helps them develop a sense of belonging to a community.
If it is worn correctly it is also extremely smart, which in turn helps inculcate high standards of personal cleanliness and good grooming.
When playing sports a pupil in the correct kit not only looks good, but shows a great determination to play well.
The local reputation of a school, rightly or wrongly, sometimes depends on external appearances of the pupils as they go to and from school.
Sixth form pupils have a separate dress code: smart business-like atire.
