Extra Curricular Activities

Life at The Grammar School is much more than what happens during school hours. We offer many extra-curricular activities which all help to play a big part in the personal development of our pupils.

From our regular school trips abroad through to the Duke of Edinburgh Award and music clubs, all our activities are well subscribed and we even encourage our pupils to start their own after-school clubs and societies.

Since 2000, we have run the very successful V Project, previously the Millennium Volunteers Scheme, that sees pupils helping to forge new links with both our immediate community and their own by getting involved in activities as far ranging as the local youth service, brass bands and swimming clubs.

We organise an annual trip to Karlsruhe, in Germany, where we stay with the families of local school children there, and this we reciprocate later in the year. In addition our Year 7 pupils get the chance to go on an activity holiday near Le Touquet, in France.

Our annual ski trip has been running since 1986 and continues to be a popular event for students in Year 9 and above. Countries visited have included Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the USA, while the 2009 trip was to Alpe d'Huez, in France.
