Pirates of Penzance»
02/03/2010
The Grammar School Hipperholme's cast of talented actors and actresses set sail to the Brighouse Civic Theatre’s stage on March 16th and 17th when they perform Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance.
Our students have been working incredibly hard in putting together a dynamic and
entertaining performance of this popular operetta which follows the adventures of Frederic, a young man forced to endure a life as a pirate. Due to an unfortunate mishap that took place when Frederic was a child he is taken by the Pirate King and his band of fearsome, yet somewhat jovial and inoffensive pirates. The operetta takes the audience on a swashbuckling journey through Frederic’s attempt to free himself of the pirates’ indentures, meeting an eclectic mix of colourful characters along the way, including a foursome of conceited daughters, Police Sergeants and the infamous Major General. The Operetta combines a comic plot and fast-paced musical score and our production promise to be spectacular.
Lead roles are being played by Rebecca Sabin, India Shibil, Katie Faye Moorhouse, Chris Barr, Nicole Campbell and many more with the girls' and boys' choirs providing excellent chorus singers. Tickets are priced at £8.50 and are available from the school office. Get yours now before the ship sails!
