Medal Haul at The Yorkshire Schools Sports Acrobatics Championships»

On March 7th 2010, The Grammar School Hipperholme took part in the Yorkshire Schools Sports Acrobatics Championships held at Brooksbank School. Schools from all over Yorkshire and as far as Bridlington were competing.  The Grammar School Hipperholme had more gymnasts competing than any other school, with only 4 out of the 20 who had ever done a gymnastics competition before.

The other 16 students only attend the school gym club which runs once a week.  The students learned the skills required and put the routines together in just 6 weeks.  It is the first time the school has taken part in the competition and the standard was extremely high.

Our gymnasts won the following medals:
U13 Girls Tumbling - 2nd Katie Ormerod, 3rd Georgina Harris
U19 Girls Tumbling - 1st Laura Wadsworth
U19 Girls Pairs - 3rd Laura Wadsworth and Georgina Harris
U19 Boys Pairs - 1st Mackenze Mattock and Oliver Firth, 3rd Adam Parkinson and Chris Barr
U19 Mixed Pairs - 3rd Jessica Brearley and William Forsyth
