Magic Music Hour»
13/05/2010

Pupils, parents, teachers and friends enjoyed a magic music hour at Hipperholme Grammar Junior School on Wednesday 12th May.  The school hall was filled with beautiful music made by a variety of talented musicians.

The Guitar Ensemble

Opening proceedings was the Guitar Ensemble who entertained the audience with In The Moonlight and Polish Dance.  The Guitar Ensemble is made up of children as young as 6 and they all wowed the audience with their advanced playing.  Later, some of the guitarists performed solo pieces that they had played in their Associated Board of Music exams.

Reception's Animal Dance

Reception class were next on stage to demonstrate the skills they have learnt since joining the school in September.  They sang and danced to a variety of tunes played by Music Teacher, Mrs Zarneh.

The Recorder Group

The Recorder Group made up of Key Stage 1 children performed a selection of pieces for the audience to enjoy: Joe Joe, Elephants, Hot Cross Buns and Indian Warrior.  These children started their recorder lessons after Christmas and proved that they have already made outstanding progress.

The Choir

The choir gave beautiful vocal performances and taught their class mates and parents how to harmonise.

Megan Armitage plays Morning

Soloist Megan Armitage perfectly performed Morning on her cornet and was followed by flautist Madi Snowball, expertly played Lightly Row.  We then enjoyed a Woodwind duet by Form 6 pupils Francesca Parr and Emily Briggs.  They played classic favourite When The Saints Go Marching In.
