Extra Curricular Activities

Life at Hipperholme Grammar School is much more than what happens during school hours. We offer many extra-curricular activities which all help to play a big part in the personal development of our pupils.

From our regular school trips abroad through to the Duke of Edinburgh Award, sports teams and music clubs, all our activities are well subscribed and we even encourage our pupils to start their own after-school clubs and societies.

Every year our new Year 7 forms visit Buckden House in North Yorkshire very early on in their Senior School career for caving, high ropes and the opportunity to get to know their new friends. Our annual ski trip has been running since 1986 and continues to be a popular event for students across the School. Countries visited have included Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the USA, while the 2014 trip was to Alpe d’Huez.

We are constantly reviewing our programme and react to pupil and parental wishes. In 2008 a number of pupils expressed an interest in forming a cheer squad. The School appointed a coach and we have been National Schools champions every year since. This gives an indication of the School’s wish to provide outstanding activities which fit with our pupils.

Although most, if not all pupils will have an opportunity to represent the School within their chosen activities we have a thriving House system which increases the number of opportunities.
