U13 Hockey v Rishworth – Saturday 17th November
On Saturday 17th November the Under 13s girls hockey team played Rishworth at Park Lane. In our first match, we faced a strong Under 13 team. The first half was dominated by Rishworth’s attack but we had some good saves by Evie Wells in goal. Unfortunately, we conceded 2 goals and the final score was 2-0 to Rishworth. In our second game, we faced Rishworth’s Under 12 team. It’s fair to say we controlled the match and had the majority of the possession. Rishworth managed to have a few shots on goal, which were brilliantly saved by Emily Stringer. In total, we scored 4 goals. I scored the first, Lydia Morgan scored a further 2 and Jessica Gill scored the last, right before the final whistle, making the final score 4-0 to Hipperholme. Thank you to Mrs. Orme and Mrs. Schofield for coaching us.
(Florence Taylor – Year 8)
Rugby fixtures v Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate (A) – Saturday 17th November
U15 Match report:
On Saturday 17th November we played QE in a very tense game. They scored an early try but we kept our heads up so Connor Morgan quickly equalised through a neat set play. Just before halftime, with effective passing, QE scored a try in the corner to end the half. After a quick team talk from Sir, we came out with a great deal of fire, focusing on all of the positives from the first half. A few minutes into the second half Ollie Mayer scored our second try with great momentum from the forwards. With high pressure from all the team, we caused the opposition to make silly mistakes, which allowed Connor to intercept one of their passes to run the full pitch, scoring our 3rd and final try. We defended well with huge hits from everyone, not allowing anyone through for the rest of the game. We were unlucky not to score more, with balls held up or dropped just over their try line. We won at the end with a score of 19-12. Jonah was the player of the match because of the great organisation and brilliant teamwork with Ethan, throughout all the game. Many thanks to Mr. Crouchman for taking us.
(Oliver Sheehan – Pack Leader, Y11)
U13 Match report:
We went to Queen Ethelburga’s on Saturday and after a slow start we started to play some proper rugby by playing it down the hands and we were rewarded with a try in the bottom corner of the field. Unfortunately, we made some silly mistakes and conceded because of them but after a big team talk we were fired up and scored another try. Unfortunately, QE were far too strong for us physically and we struggled to cope with their size advantage. Our heads never dropped and we fought valiantly until the end despite the loss. Player of the match went to Max Bradshaw for putting in some great tackles.

Rugby fixtures v Rishworth – Saturday 24th November
U13 Match report:
On Saturday Rishworth School came to us for our last game of the season. We started slowly and we conceded a few tries early on but came back strong with Pablo running the length of the field and getting a try in the corner of the field. After that, we made some good plays but a few silly mistakes led to them scoring yet again. We came back quickly from this, with Aydin running through the Rishworth back line to score an excellent try. Unfortunately, we conceded another try just before halftime. In the second half we started quickly with a good defence, however, we let in 2 more tries due to missed tackles. As we found our rhythm again, we began to put a few good patterns of play together, which culminated in Pablo using his pace to run around their wingers and get another try. As the game went on, we put in some big hits and we began to win more balls from the ruck. In the dying minutes of the match, I managed to steal the ball from the ruck and score our final try of the game.
Player of the match went to Pablo for putting some big hits in and getting 2 tries in the game. Well done to all of the squad for making huge progress throughout the season and the future looks bright for the squad over the coming years.

U15 Match report:
On Saturday 24th November we played our last rugby game of the season against Rishworth, with the Year 11s playing their last game ever for the School. We started off the game strongly with good attacking rugby in their half but unfortunately, after an error, they got the ball back and kicked up the field. Rishworth managed to score. Unfortunately, they scored a quick flurry of tries but we didn’t let our heads go down with the momentum against us. However, they dropped the ball during an attacking phase and Connor grabbed it and charged through their line with great pace. Connor got caught and offloaded the ball neatly to myself and I scored directly under the posts. Unfortunately, due to a few silly errors, Rishworth scored two more tries before halftime.
We went into a huddle and with some calm words from Mr. Crouchman, we went back out determined to play more attacking rugby and stop Rishworth from scoring more.
We started off again strong, but unfortunately, we dropped the ball and Rishworth ran the full length of the pitch and scored. We struggled to defend their quick passing and high organisation, due to this they scored more tries. Just before the end of the game, we had good attacking momentum and we got a penalty. I took it and dived over for my 2nd try of the game.
The final score was 46-12 and the player of the match went to Ethan Wroot for being excellent and always been strong and reliable in the game.
Well done to all the players this season and it was a very good season. Well done to all the Year 11 who have all put everything into this season.
Thank you to Mr. Crouchman and Fran for all their help with coaching and refereeing we wouldn’t have been able to do this without you.
