Year 11 Exam Grades for Summer 2020 GCSE’s

Year 11 Exam Grades

We understand how unsettling the past weeks have been for our Year 11 students and their families, since
the announcement that exams have been cancelled this summer.

This is how we are dealing with this. Our teachers will be asked to send two pieces of information for each subject, based on what they know about each student’s work and achievements:

  • The grade they believe each student would most likely to get if teaching, learning and exams had happened as planned.
  • Within each subject, the order of students in each class, by performance, for each grade.

Our teachers will consider a range of things like classwork and homework; results in assignments and any mock exams; any non-exam assessment or coursework; and general progress during their course. Work completed before the submission deadline, which at the earliest is the 29th May, can be used to justify a student’s position in the rank order for each subject.

There will be a chance to sit a series of exams in the Autumn term, should students not be happy with their actual results, therefore it is strongly recommended that they consolidate their learning and revise thoroughly over the Easter holidays.

This is a great opportunity for our students to prove to their subject teachers their capabilities, submit their evidence and therefore achieve a set of GCSE grades to be proud of.

Although the building is closed, Hipperholme is very much open and our teachers are ready to support our students over the coming weeks as they race towards the finishing line.
